About Impulse Space

Company founded by SpaceX co-founder Tom Mueller building the Mira and Helios orbital transfer vehicles for delivering and maneuvering payloads in space. In June 2025 the company raised $300M in a Series C led by Linse Capital at about a $1.8B valuation.

Impulse Space builds orbital tugs that move a satellite from low Earth orbit to geostationary orbit in under a day instead of six to nine months. Founded in 2021 in Redondo Beach, California. In July 2026 the company became the first contractor in history cleared by the US Space Force for national security launches in the role of upper stage provider rather than rocket provider. The industry has learned to put mass into low orbit cheaply, and the final leg of the journey has remained the bottleneck. Caravan missions to geostationary orbit for 2027-2028 are fully contracted before the launch vehicle's first flight. Current valuation is $4.26B from a $500M Series D announced June 2, 2026, against $1.8B a year earlier; more than $1B raised across five rounds.

Key highlights

  1. The valuation was confirmed by a deal a month ago. On June 2, 2026 a $500M Series D was announced at a $4.26B valuation; a year earlier the company was worth $1.8B.
  2. The first flight of the key vehicle is set for the end of 2026. Until now Helios has existed as a promise backed by three flights of the smaller Mira vehicle.
  3. Military demand has moved from plans into contracts. On July 7, 2026 the company was cleared for NSSL Phase 3 Lane 1 national security launches; add to that a $34.5M SBIR Phase III contract, a $60M STRATFI agreement, and participation in Anduril's team on the Golden Dome program.
  4. The first years' revenue is sold in advance. Caravan missions to geostationary orbit for 2027-2028 are fully contracted before the launch vehicle's first flight.
  5. There is no competition yet in the segment that matters. The industry has learned to put mass into low orbit cheaply, and the final leg has remained the bottleneck — where Rocket Lab and Firefly offer launches and vehicles, but not a one-day transfer to geostationary orbit.
