About fal.ai

American infrastructure platform for generative media, giving developers programmatic access to hundreds of models for generating images, video, audio, and 3D content. Raised $140M in December 2025 led by Sequoia at a $4.5B valuation, tripling its value from a round in summer 2025.

fal is a compute platform through which developers and companies run other people's models for generating images, video, audio, and 3D objects. Founded in 2021 in San Francisco. A single API endpoint replaces buying GPUs, configuring servers, and signing a separate contract with each model lab: the company maintains the GPU fleet, negotiates with the developers itself, and hands the client a ready call billed on usage — per request or per second of GPU time. More than 600 models are available on the platform. Revenue grew 1,040% over 2025. Current valuation is $4.5B from a $140M Series D (December 2025); roughly $587M raised in total since 2023.

Key highlights

  1. Generative video went mainstream in the past year and is an order of magnitude heavier than images. One second of video takes tens of times more compute than an image, and that is where the 1,040% revenue growth over 2025 comes from.
  2. Model developers find it more profitable to distribute through someone else's platform than to build their own. In two months, models from Microsoft, Lightricks, and Sonilo launched on fal, and each publication brings its own audience to the platform.
  3. On May 19, 2026 AWS became the company's primary cloud partner. For a business whose main cost line is renting GPUs, that means predictable unit costs and capacity that grows with demand.
  4. A GPU maker has joined the cap table. Nvidia's venture arm participated in the December 2025 Series D, and in this industry access to accelerators means no less than money.
