About Hadrian

Builds software-defined autonomous factories that manufacture high-precision metal parts for rockets, satellites, aircraft, drones, and submarines. Model: 'factory as a service.'

Hadrian is an American manufacturer of high-precision metal parts for rockets, satellites, aircraft, drones, and submarines. Founded in November 2020 by Chris Power in Los Angeles, headquartered in Torrance. It builds factories where CNC machines and robots operate under its proprietary Opus software, which generates machining programs from customer blueprints and inspects finished parts on its own — so a new technician can be trained in about a month. Hadrian now sells entire production lines and factories built for Pentagon programs and major defense contractors, and Opus is used by the Army and Navy. In August 2026 a $1.37B Series D valued the company at $7.87B — nearly five times its January valuation; total funding raised exceeds $1.8B.

Key highlights

  1. Munitions and autonomous systems. After the Series D, the company is opening lines for munitions and autonomous systems, hiring Wallis Laughrey from Raytheon and Anduril for the effort. Munitions are procured in large batches over years, and a line like this gives the factory steady utilization.
  2. New factories for specific programs. In 2026 Hadrian plans up to five more factories, each dedicated to its own defense segment. A factory built around a specific program runs on a multi-year contract, which makes revenue predictable.
  3. Opus for other companies' factories. The Army and Navy already use Opus, and the company says it will soon name new major contractors. Selling the software without its own machines brings in revenue at a noticeably higher margin.
  4. Casting and forging. F4 will be one of Hadrian's three naval-focused factories, and one of them will handle casting. Castings and forgings are currently one of the longest lead-time steps in submarine construction, so this move expands the company's share of every order.
  5. Cells inside contractors' own factories. The Lockheed Martin arrangement, where Hadrian installs its own machines and staff on someone else's site, requires little capital. It can be replicated with other major contractors who lack the capacity for serial rocket production.
  6. Machines bought on credit. A $360M credit line and a loan from Morgan Stanley let the company buy equipment without issuing new shares. Power explicitly calls debt-financed machine purchases one of the main levers for growing the company's value.
