About Saronic
Builds AI-piloted autonomous surface vessels for naval fleets and is standing up the Port Alpha shipyards to build them at scale for the US Navy and allies.
Saronic Technologies is an American developer of autonomous surface vessels for the US Navy and its allies, founded in September 2022 in Austin by military veterans and Anduril engineers. Its lineup runs from the 7-meter Corsair boat to the 55-meter Marauder ship; the vessels operate on their own or under remote operator control, and the company builds both the Echelon control software and the hulls in-house at its Texas and Louisiana facilities — which is why the first Marauder went from design to launch in under a year. In March 2026 it raised $1.75B at a $9.25B valuation; total funding raised is about $2.6B. In July, Brownsville was selected for the new $3.2B Port Alpha shipyard, which from 2028 will build vessels up to 260 meters long.

Key highlights
- The Medium Unmanned Surface Vessel program. In May 2026 the Navy selected seven companies, including Saronic, for sea trials of medium unmanned surface vessels. A Marauder win in this program would turn one-off orders into a multi-year series of large ships.
- The Port Alpha shipyard. The Brownsville site will build vessels up to 260 meters long starting in 2028. That size class opens up orders that currently go only to the country's largest shipyards.
- Conventional ships for the fleet. An order for LCU landing craft, which ferry vehicles and cargo from ships to shore, became Port Alpha's first contract. It shows the yard can fill capacity with crewed vessels too, not just autonomous ones.
- Allies. In May 2026 Saronic began working with classification society Lloyd's Register to bring its autonomous vessels to the UK, Europe, and Australia. Approval from a classification society like this is required to supply the navies and civilian buyers of those countries.
- Automation with Samsung Heavy Industries. The Korean shipbuilder will help automate production processes at Saronic's Texas and Louisiana yards. That will lower the cost of each hull and speed up output amid a shortage of skilled labor.
- Software for the whole fleet. Echelon runs every vessel sold, so as the fleet grows, so does the installed base for support and software updates. That revenue recurs year after year, unlike a one-time hull sale.
