About Wayve
Builds end-to-end embodied-AI foundation models: the car perceives the road and drives without HD maps, using one trained system instead of a modular rules-based stack. First in the world to test an end-to-end AI autopilot on public roads.
Wayve is a British developer of autonomous driving systems, founded in 2017 by Alex Kendall and Amar Shah, headquartered in London. It builds AI Driver — a single neural network that learned to drive from camera video and makes its own decisions on the road without pre-made maps or hand-coded rules. The company licenses the system to automakers and taxi operators; one model runs on vehicles of different makes in different countries and runs on NVIDIA, Qualcomm, AMD, and Arm platforms. In September 2026, Wayve and Uber launched the UK's first autonomous rides in London; Mercedes-Benz signed a contract for series production installation, and its partners also include Nissan and Stellantis. A Series D round in February 2026 valued the company at $8.6 billion, with total funding raised of about $2.5 billion.

Key highlights
- Revenue from every production vehicle. Nissan, Stellantis, and Mercedes-Benz together produce millions of vehicles a year. Once AI Driver enters production models starting in 2027, Wayve's revenue will grow alongside its partners' sales, with almost no added cost per additional vehicle.
- Robotaxis in twelve cities. After London, Uber plans to launch Wayve-powered vehicles in Tokyo and ten more cities worldwide. Ride fares provide a second revenue stream independent of vehicle sales.
- Rides with no one in the driver's seat. Stellantis, Wayve, and Uber have agreed to jointly launch robotaxis that need no driver at all. Removing the safety driver eliminates the operator's biggest cost item and makes every ride noticeably more profitable.
- Fleet data improves the model. Every partner vehicle sends back ride recordings that train the shared model, and every customer benefits from the improvement at once. The more vehicles on the road, the harder it becomes for a new entrant to match Wayve's driving quality.
- Runs on any onboard computer. AI Driver runs on NVIDIA, Qualcomm, AMD, and Arm platforms, so an automaker doesn't have to switch suppliers to adopt Wayve. A prototype for Stellantis was built in under two months, and that speed accelerates every new deal.
- Robots beyond cars. In August 2026, Wayve's research division, Wayve Labs, launched a robotic-manipulation initiative led by Alex Toshev, formerly of Apple and Google. A foundation model that already knows how to drive becomes the basis for a new market without building from scratch.
